Overview
GiftMagpie is a private gift tracker: the people you buy for, their birthdays and other occasions, your gift ideas, and what you spend. It does not require an account with NaRiSystems, and NaRiSystems runs no servers that receive your records.
This policy covers the only cases where anything leaves your device: the optional Google Drive backup (Premium), anonymous crash reports, anonymous usage statistics, and purchases handled by Google Play. GiftMagpie contains no advertising.
Data We Collect
Every category of data involved when you use GiftMagpie:

Local Storage & Permissions
Your people, occasions, gifts and settings are stored in GiftMagpie's private storage on your device, which other apps cannot read. Android's own automatic cloud backup is switched off for GiftMagpie, so this data is not copied anywhere unless you turn on GiftMagpie's Google Drive backup.
GiftMagpie asks for these permissions, each used only for the purpose shown:
- Notifications and alarms & reminders — to remind you before an occasion, at the time you chose.
- Run at startup — to restore your scheduled reminders after the phone restarts.
- Internet — only for Google Drive backup, Google Play purchases, anonymous usage statistics and crash reports.
GiftMagpie does not use your camera, microphone, contacts, location or photo library.
Optional Google Drive Backup
Premium users can back up to their own Google Drive and restore on a new phone. Backup is off until you sign in with Google and turn it on.

GiftMagpie requests only the
drive.appdatapermission. This gives it access to a hidden folder reserved for GiftMagpie in your Drive, and not to any of your other Drive files. - A backup contains your people, occasions, gifts and settings.
- GiftMagpie keeps your 5 most recent backups and automatically deletes older ones.
- Backups are protected by your Google account's security. GiftMagpie does not add its own encryption to them, so keep your Google account secure.
- NaRiSystems cannot see, access or recover your backups.
Purchases
GiftMagpie Premium is a one-time purchase processed entirely by Google Play. NaRiSystems never receives your card or payment details. The app only asks Google Play whether your account owns Premium, so it can unlock features and restore your purchase after a reinstall. Google's handling of payment data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
Crash Reports, Analytics & Advertising
Crash reports. GiftMagpie uses Sentry to receive a report when the app crashes or hits an error, so we can fix it. A report contains technical details only: the error and where in the code it happened, the app version, device model and Android version.
- GiftMagpie never adds the names, notes, dates, gift ideas or amounts you enter to a report.
- No screenshots, screen recordings, or record of what you tap.
- No name, email, account or other personal identifiers are attached.
- Each report carries a random installation ID, created by the app and not linked to you, so that repeated crashes from one install can be grouped.
- Sentry keeps each report for a limited time, then deletes it automatically.
Anonymous usage statistics. GiftMagpie uses Aptabase, a privacy-focused analytics service, to count how the app is used, such as whether the app was opened, a first person was added, or a purchase was completed. This tells us whether the app is working for people.
- Only event names and basic technical details (app version, Android version and device type) are sent.
- Nothing you type — no names, dates, gift ideas, notes or amounts — is ever included.
- The statistics are not linked to you or to your Google account, and are not used for advertising.
GiftMagpie contains no advertising and does not track you across other apps or websites.
GiftMagpie may show a small card recommending another NaRiSystems app. It is a plain link to Google Play; nothing about you is sent when it is shown or tapped.
Children's Privacy
GiftMagpie is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact narisystems@gmail.com and we will delete it.
Your Rights & Choices
- Delete everything on your device: uninstall GiftMagpie, or clear its storage in Android Settings → Apps → GiftMagpie.
- Delete your backups: see the steps in the Drive backup section.
- Stop backups: turn off Google Drive backup in GiftMagpie's Settings.
- Crash reports and usage statistics: these contain no personal data, so there is nothing to identify you by. If you have a question about them, email us.
Because NaRiSystems holds no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to export or delete on our side. Your data is under your control on your device and in your Google account.
Changes to This Policy
If GiftMagpie starts handling data differently, we'll update this page and the "Last updated" date before the change ships. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes on Google Play.
